Gonococcal infection

ManifestationsAppropriate Tests

Urethral, cervical, conjunctival, pharyngeal, rectal swabs, as appropriate - Gram stain and culture for Neisseria gonorrhoeae.

Genital swab or initial stream urine for PCR testing.

Consider possibility of concurrent infection with HIV, Chlamydia trachomatis, syphilis; see also Sexually transmitted diseases.

Urethritis, cervicitis
