Acute hepatitis | Hepatitis C virus (HCV) RNA may be required for diagnosis if seroconversion has not yet occurred. |
Chronic hepatitis | Hepatitis C virus (HCV) RNA (qualitative) to detirmine infectivity. Liver biopsy may be indicated. Alpha fetoprotein monitoring for detection of hepatocellular carcinoma. Quantitative Hepatitis C virus (HCV) RNA and Hepatitis C virus genotyping is only indicated as part of the pre-treatment assessment. |
