Paget's disease of the bone

Clinical assessment, with diagnostic imaging. ALP (isolated elevation, with normal GGT).
Urine - hydroxyproline with hydroxyproline/creatinine ratio to quantitate bone turnover.
Bone biopsy sometimes helpful to exclude other lesions. Serial ALP or hydroxyproline to monitor response to treatment.
Assay of osteocalcin provides no additional benefit for diagnosis or monitoring.See also Paget's disease - breast and extramammary
