CausesAppropriate Tests

Genital swab (cervical, urethral) for microscopy and culture (including Neisseria gonorrhoeae).

Cervical and urethral swabs or initial stream urine for Chlamydia trachomatis detection and PCR for Neisseria gonorrhoeae.

Endometrial biopsy, including culture and mycobacteria testing; cervical cytology.

Blood culture, if patient is seriously ill.
