Blood culture - ensure request alerts laboratory to the possible diagnosis, as Brucella spp may take up to two weeks to grow and laboratory handling of the organism is hazardous. Brucella antibodies - serum. Bone marrow aspiration for culture, when there is a strong clinical suspicion and serological tests and blood cultures are negative. FBC; urea, creatinine, electrolytes, ALT, AST, ALP; CRP to follow progress. | |
