In general sextant biopsies sampling of the right and left anterior, and middle and posterior prostate are undertaken. However, up to 12 biopsies per prostate are not uncommon and occasionally clinicians may target an area noted to be suspicious for carcinoma on previous biopsy. The core, or cores from each site should be submitted in a separate labelled container. |
