5 mL blood in plain tube.

Method

Serum reacted, over a range of dilutions, with red cells of known blood group.

Reference Interval

Consult laboratory.

Application

Investigation of immune deficiency especially humoral deficiency.

Interpretation

Absent or low titres of anti-A or anti-B isohaemagglutinins in individuals of the appropriate ABO blood group suggests humoral immune deficiency (eg, Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome).
