Method

Chromatography, spectrophotometry.

Reference Interval

Method dependent - consult pathologist.

ApplicationDiagnosis of primary or secondary hyperoxaluria in patients with renal calculi.
Interpretation

Elevation indicates hyperoxaluria, grossly increased levels occur in primary hyperoxaluria.

Very high levels are also seen in patients with ethylene glycol poisoning.
